Helping the Helpers
Whether you work in a helping profession or are caring for your children or elderly family member, you experience a very high level of stress. You are also, because of your empathic position, often taking on the pain of others. How can you be a caregiver without giving too much? How do you stay healthy when there is so little time for selfcare?
Healing the Helpers is a one-day interactive workshop that looks at caregiver burnout/fatigue and vicarious trauma. The impact of stress is discussed and participants will be invited to complete a stress inventory. Using William Glasser’s notion of creating behaviours in the “library” or “laboratory” of our lives, an exercise to determine which behaviours no longer serve the highest good will be identified and a ceremonial purging will take place. Several tips for dealing with stress will be presented and the day will end with each participant creating a personal care plan.
“Eve provided training at our Early Learning Center, teaching educators how to care for themselves, how to reduce stress in a high stress job so that they could provide the best care and education possible to young children entrusted to them. She also provided training and guidance to educators in best practices working with young children.
“Eve is knowledgeable, confident and highly skilled in her methods of training. She takes into consideration cultural relevancy and experience of participants. I would highly recommend Eve for your training needs.”
