Creative Solutions for Challenging Behaviours
There will be times when you need to address challenging behaviour. This might involve conflict between young people or confrontation with a peer or those in authority. Whatever the circumstances, conflict situations generate strong emotional feelings.
Whether you work with children, youth or adults, or experience conflict in your personal relationships, the inability to manage challenging behaviours can be a great source of personal frustration. How effective is your current approach? Would you like to learn how to move from the problem into the solution more easily?
Creative Solutions for Challenging Behaviours is a one-day workshop that addresses concerns attached to children and adults with attention-seeking, power-seeking and revenge-seeking behaviours. Special problems associated with Attention Deficit Disorder, Attachment Disorders or Oppositional Defiance will also be discussed. We will look at creative ways in which parents/caregivers/educators can maintain and teach boundaries in the face of disruptive behaviors.
We will also look at the many faces of anger and how to deal with your own and someone else’s anger.
We will take an in-depth look at the importance of teaching children and adults how to recognize and deal with what they are feeling. Information and practical tips on how to teach these social skills will be presented. Participants will create a “feelings dictionary” that can be used with all age groups.
Finally, we will examine the difference between enabling and helping and talk about selfcare.
